PBS Volunteer News 4-2014
You may have heard of the on-air ones and now it's time for some of the off-air. Here's some you should know about.....
An amazing effort by the dream team in the music department: 1244 Studio 5 CDs digitised, made into CDs for the music library and catalogued by Ben, Sasha, Dave, Stu, Maddie and more! This means those incredible live sessions that happen at PBS are available for PBS announcers to replay on air!
Ben, Chelsea and part of the Studio 5 Collection |
Grant the Builder was pulling out a kitchen from a work site one day and thought "I know where this would be good for".... It sat in the PBS garage, as the building projects were prioritised. Then one day Joe came forward to volunteer at PBS. Joe initially helped re-build the wheelchair ramps then last week, the kitchen was done. Admire the skilful work of Joe and Chris for customising this second hand kitchen to the PBS kitchen space.
Chris and Joe working hard |
On the same day the kitchen was being built, wasn't it just brilliant when Chris Pearson braved the rain and solved the problem of getting Peter Merrett's tube fixed? It would have otherwise cost $200 and taken hours to wait! Chris Pearson of Pojama People came to the rescue!
Annual Night of the Receptionists |
Last Friday was the Night of The Receptionists - the night where PBS receptionists meet up and hang out. Apologies to our dearly valued Wednesday receptionist Jay was accidentally cut out of this picture.

Fine Print Policies and Procedures
It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the policies and procedures here and http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider becoming a PBS shareholder?
