PBS Volunteer News 7-2014
Thanks
for the fabulous response to last month’s Volunteer News. Welcome to the new
fabulous volunteers who've filled the spots and farewell to our great
friends who've had to leave for greener pastures! We said bye to Theo the work experience kid, and Ben - our Friday receptionist of 4 years. I felt sad to see them go, but I am very happy that new exciting things will be on the horizon. Speaking of which, here's some upcoming
opportunities at PBS......
Wednesday 10am-2pm Reception
Be the face of PBS on what Pete Merrett calls "Roots Wednesday". Take the calls, direct the people, and stay on top of it. If you've got computer skills, people skills, a desire to volunteer in this role and can commit for at least 6 months, email mara@pbsfm.org.au to get a copy of the PD.

And here's some volunteer roles in the arts community.......
City of Stonnington seeks volunteer stewards to work in
South Yarra and Prahran, at the EXXOPOLIS Luminarium as part of the Glow Winter
Arts Festival - 14 to 24 August, 2014.
Stewards should be over 18 years of age, prepared to commit
to a minimum of four hours on two or more days, not suffer from claustrophobia,
be willing to work outdoors, and undertake training where required, between 14
and 24 August, 2014.
Glow is the City’s inaugural Winter Arts Festival which
presents a unique opportunity for people who would like experience in the arts,
events and community activities. The EXXOPOLIS Luminarium has not been to
Victoria before and is a large-scale inflatable structure constructed of
translucent vinyl and the multi-sensory space, which welcomes and inspires
everyone who journeys inside. Islamic art and architecture, Archimedean solids
and Gothic cathedrals meld together to form an awe-inspiring monument to the
unexpected beauty of colour and light.

Fine Print Policies and Procedures
It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the policies and procedures here and http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider becoming a PBS shareholder?
