PBS Volunteer News 4, 2017
Busy times at PBS, there’s a
lot of activity and so much to organise. But it’s worth it, because it’s all in
the name of PBS, Melbourne’s progressive broadcaster of specialist music,
powered by amazing volunteers.

IWD at PBSFM captured by Christine Brackenhoff, Mel Page, Bridget Small, Sarah Pratt, Josie Smart, Sophie Woods and Nick Brown |
March 8 was a real highlight
for PBS because we celebrated International Women’s Day and had a fantastic team of volunteers who championed women and non binary voices. It kick started with a full house for The Breakfast Spread with on air talent
from Beth AQ, Sarah Occhino, Hannah
Donnelly, Parvyn Kaur Bennett,
and Ajak Kwai, Roj Amedi, Triana Hernandez
and Josie Smart, Behind the scenes,
producer Sophie Woods kept things
moving, Nick Brown made everyone
breakfast, and Kerrie, Natalie, both
came in early to video the event. Later that day, Helen Jennings presented Roots
of Rhythm with Kelly Auty, Jane Hendry played vocal group
classics, Jan Dale span the blues on
Jumpin’ The Blues, DJ Ladysoul did Soul Time, Lyndelle presented
The Afterglow. Ruby Woods and Katie Harrigan assisted Alicia engineer the studio 5 Live with Broads. Monica followed that with Against the Tide, Ruby
Soho filled in for Shock Treatment,
Claire
Dickson covered Pojama People, Madi
Wright did her legendary show: Be
Suburban. Bridget Small, Christine Brackenhoff and Melanie Page provided stellar social
media coverage. Then deep in Brunswick, Grace
K and Erica presented the The Punk Singer at The Spotted Mallard. IWD was
a huge day for PBS with ace content, the coolest announcers, volunteers and special guests
pulling it all together. It's a new chapter in the PBS story, and if you’d like to be part of the action, why don’t
you volunteer?
Here’s some upcoming opportunities…
EVENT
VOLUNTEERING
Calling all night owls and party people! PBS is looking for event volunteers to volunteer on the door and the merch desk of a new night starting up Saturday March 25 at the Evelyn called Momentum. Eclectic by nature but strongly rooted in the funk, hip-hop, neo-soul and jazz scene, Momentum is an opportunity to showcase the amazing array of sounds emerging from our local community (and beyond) and simultaneously nourish the already strong connection between the PBS family and the vibrant Melbourne music scene. This promises to be a great partnership with Foreign Brothers, a showcase of hot new music, as well as very fun night. Send your EOI to volunteer to hr@pbsfm.org.au.

PBS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this.
See the P&P here and http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and Procedures
Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice
and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers
and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at
PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider
becoming a PBS shareholder?
PBS acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we are located
and we pay our respects to them, their culture, and their Elders past and present
