Door People – Heavy and Hammered
In October, PBS’ hard and heavy category
get together to throw a bash broadly representative of the programming on Shock Treatment, Pojama People, Circling The Sun, Sunglasses After Dark, Through the Collapse,Metal Genesis, Burning Bitumen, Fret Net and Into The Void. Bringing all corners of the hard n heavy
community of Melbourne together – with a combination of established headliners
and emerging bands lining up across the upstairs and downstairs sections of The
Tote. The Hard n Heavy team are proud to support bands from this scene every
single week on their programs – so this is a way of showcasing the community
away from the radio in the live setting. If you’d like to be a part of this
event, we need a team of door and merch people. Ideally you’re a
trustworthy individual who listens to one or more of these programs, and just
wants to help out. If you’re interested in volunteering, Email: mara@pbsfm.org.au

Radio Festival in Pictures
Radio Festival was yet another mammoth effort by a community of music lovers and thank you to the 300+ volunteers who helped out during our BIGGEST event: Radio Festival. Thank you to the fantastic volunteers who put at the call on air 24/7 from May 15-28. Thank you to those who answered phone calls from 6am right through 'til midnight, entered memberships into the database, packed and sent memberships and renewals, who decorated, served other volunteers, took photos, updated social media, helped with the administrative mop up and kept this radio station running tight during the fundraiser! Your help was invaluable and we couldn’t do it without you and appreciate your assistance greatly. Hope to catch you at the wrap party!
Celia and Lisa crafted the decorations to set the mood space themed mood for Radio Festival 2017 |
Yes it was that time again: The annual PBS fundraiser- we call it RADIO FESTIVAL |
A fundraising festival where you could win this scooter, pictured here with Beth AQ and Nick Brown of The Breakfast Spread with Dan Sultan. You can still be in the draw to win this if you become a member for June 30. |
And Passionate, Patron, Business, Friends for Life and Friends for a Decade get this exclusive space themed T-shirt for any memberships processed May to June 30. |
We received generous food donations for all the volunteers from Mario's in Fitzroy and Pasta Classica of Collingwood. |
And there were lots of volunteers who supported the effort like Vince Peach of 'Soul Time' and Kristine |
And we got to see Peter Bramley from 'Club It To Death' in broad daylight |
And here's Chelsea and friends from 'Jazz Got Soul' |
This is Mike Sewell, Chairman of the PBS Board, volunteering on the phones, taking membership calls |
Sometimes the phones got busy! |
And sometimes in the slower moments, it offered volunteers an opportunity to meet new people in the PBS community |
And this is how appreciative Dingo AKA Jamie Suppa is of the volunteers who answered the calls during 'It's A Gas' |
And there was plenty of other activities - like packing memberships |
Or hanging out and catching up |
with old friends |
Or new-ish friends |
supporting each other on and off air |
....and having laffs like 'Shock Treament's' Kev Lobotomi is here |
Yep. Radio Festival is that time of the year where we rally together to support PBS be it woman, man and dog! |
Thanks to all the fantastic volunteers for helping PBS with the annual fundraiser, and a BIG CHEERS to you! |
Many hands made light work and we are grateful for your support! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Don't forget, if you want to volunteer at PBS, email hr@pbsfm.org.au |
PBS Policies and Procedures
It is important for
all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the P&P here and http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and
Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes
of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers,
announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how
things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not
consider becoming a PBS shareholder?
PBS acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we are located
and we pay our respects to them, their culture, and their Elders past and present
