Volunteer News 12 - 2013

Following Radio Festival we’ve been buried in paperwork and we gotta say a huge THANKS for all those who’ve helped out. The weekend working bee went really well and a big thanks to Luc, Madeline, Heyden, Chris and team leaders Di and Marty who gave up their Saturday to send out numerous PBS renewal letters. Thanks also to Marty who generously donated a folding machine, the magnificent labour saving device. And thanks to Sue who also packed a record number on a Friday.  Thanks to the Wednesday crew who've been packing and sending out the memberships. This includes, Nicola, Rachelle, Paul, Susi, Anthony, Lauren & Kristine. In case you were wondering, those Saturday reception spots were filled by terrific volunteers Gregg and Chris. For those who helped out at this year’s Radio Festival, free this date/time in your calendar: Wednesday July 3 from 6pm. The invite to the wrap up party is coming out to you soon. Just a few of roles to let you know about this fortnight: read on....

Giveaway for PBS Volunteers

Switched on Shindig
This one promises to be really fun!
Still looking for the Land of 1000 Dances? You know – that magical place where you can put your hands on your hips and let your backbone slip? A place where the scene is so outta sight you can do the Watusi, the Pony, the Mashed Potato and the Alligator all night? Well, we’re here to tell you that your search is over, baby, because PBS is presenting a party to end all parties, ‘The Switched On Shindig’, where the dances are gonna flow until you say noooooooo more!

For one night only Melbourne’s finest female foxes will join forces to celebrate the golden era of 1960s nightclub culture.

Featuring two live sets from Talei Wolfgramm and her smokin' hot rhythm & blues band The Aviators, tunes from vinyl vixens DJ Emma Peel and Ms Butt, plus dance classes from Melbourne’s Queen of Frug, Miss Anna Go Go, The Switched On Shindig will be shaking all over.

But wait - there’s more!

There will be go-go girls twisting the night away on stage, film projections, psychedelic lights and drinks specials. If that’s not enough to make you want to wig out, you’re out of your bird!

So turn off that transistor, Mister and head to Bella Union on Saturday 29th June.

And we’ve got a double pass for one lucky PBS volunteer who’d love to go to this. Email mara@pbsfm.org.au and tell her why you’d like to go to Switched On Shindig.

Fine Print Policies and Procedures

It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the policies and procedures here and http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider becoming a PBS shareholder?
