Joining the Dots

Remember a few months ago we put the call out to find out who did this T-shirt artwork?

Well we got an answer.
The artist was Sally Ann.

Sally tells "It was Ken Fargher who encouraged me with the design stuff". Sally also did the original logo, letterhead and produced the first Waves including illustrations.

The funny thing is that we never knew about Sally Ann until she unexpectedly walked through the door for a drop in January 2013 during her vacation from NZ.

When I got the chance to quiz PBS people from days gone, they verified that Sally Ann was “the real deal”.  Her stories of the T-shirt, stationery design, circus skills used for transmission purposes, becoming the first woman sound engineer at PBS + more are just some aspects to an amazing experience at PBS. Sally Ann’s story is just one in a group’s collective efforts to provide a musical alternative for the people of Melbourne and make a difference.

 ???
While the mystery of the T-shirt artist was solved, the search raised broader questions, the main one being:
When will the histories of PBS be written?
We’re grateful for the information we’ve got. See:

But PBS is a radio station about people and it’s the compilation of their stories that we don’t have. So I’m putting it out there: who wants to write and or research the history of PBS?

This is potentially a mammoth project that will take a long time to get done properly, and there’ll be many challenges, hurdles and seemingly closed doors and you may encounter some resistance. Historians, writers and researchers are you out there? Are you passionate enough to want to take this volunteer project on? Are you looking for a meaningful project? Do you have the dedication to see this through? Email mara@pbsfm.org.au with your EOI’s.

Maybe it could be you who joins the dots!

Fine Print Policies and Procedures

It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the policies and procedures here and http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider becoming a PBS shareholder?
