PBS Volunteer News - 6- 2016

Celia and her gigantic octopus creation

We've been busy working on our annual fundraiser: Radio Festival and we have so many volunteers to thank! No kidding! We couldn't have done it without the many excellent volunteers and it's still going.... until June 30. So to all the fantastic volunteers who flogged the message, answered the call, pre-packed or packed the kits, folded the T-shirts, made the decorations, took the photos, took the mail to the post office, donated the food and all the other support and love in the community - THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! It was a great team and I hope you can make it to the wrap up party.

Now it's back to business. We’ve got lots of volunteer roles available across events, office, membership, and the music library so if you’ve been itching to volunteer, now is the time.Here’s a list of upcoming roles. If you’re interested and available you know what to do.

Music Library Assistants - filled

Work side by side with the PBS music and interviews coordinator Cam Durnsford and interviews coordinator Beth AQ to help our announcers organise interviews and get their hands on the latest music. This is an admin role and we need people who are crazy about music, pay attention to detail, have admin experience and are reliable and willing to commit for at least six months. Are you looking to build up your resume with this kind of music industry experience? Then this is the role for you. Email mara@pbsfm.org.au to express your interest. To volunteer in the music library ALL volunteers need to be able to competently use:

* Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
* ITunes
* Google Chrome and Google Docs

In addition, music volunteers must:

* have data entry skills for cataloguing
*  be able to put away items in alphabetical order
*  match numbers with names and names with lockers
** If you're lacking in these areas don't despair. There may be something else you can help with**

But for all volunteers at PBS the following things are important:
·         Good communication skills
·         Being a team player
·         Have an eye for detail – even if it means rechecking your work
·         Diligence and acting in the best interests of PBS
