PBS Volunteer News - 8- 2016

Kristine, Elle, Kris and Chris are just 4 volunteers who participated in several different roles. We crunched some numbers and found that 409 volunteers contributed to PBS last financial year. No matter how large or small the contribution there’s no doubt:

ϟ VOLUNTEERS POWER PBS ϟ

Volunteers announced, kept the place together with maintenance assistance, rolled out events, assisted with fundraising, governance, day to day office and MORE! Thank you to the interesting, diverse and dynamic volunteers who helped make PBS. The great news is there’s many more volunteer roles coming up and you can see the new openings below.

We are seeking a really great volunteer photographer to take pictures of our record fair. Would you like to snap this unique sub-culture of record collectors in their preferred environment? JOIN THE CREW FOR HEAVY AND HAMMERED
Door People – Heavy and Hammered - 1 shift left
It’s that time of the year when PBS’ hard and heavy category get together to throw a hard and heavy bash. Building on the success of the inaugural Heavy & Hammered last year, we are putting together a line-up of bands broadly representative of the programming on Shock Treatment, Pojama People, Circling The Sun, Sunglasses After Dark, Through the Collapse, Metal Genesis, Burning Bitumen, Fret Net and Into The Void. Heavy & Hammered II is designed as a day of bringing all corners of the hard n heavy community of Melbourne together – with a combination of established headliners and emerging bands lining up across the upstairs and downstairs sections of The Tote. The Hard n Heavy team are proud to support bands from this scene every single week on their programs – so this is a way of showcasing the community away from the radio in the live setting. If you’d like to be a part of this event, we need a couple of people to help out on the door. Ideally you’re a trustworthy individual who listens to one or more of these programs, and just wants to help out. If you’re interested in volunteering, Email: mara@pbsfm.org.au

Open Day - We Need You! Many Roles
The PBS Open Day is a day in the year where we open our doors to the public to show them what we do. Now on a daily basis we don’t display/instruct what we do, we just get on with it. So Open Day is a little bit different and we’ll need your help to show the world just what we do and how we do it! We’re looking for volunteers to assist with a BBQ, making coffee and tea for guests, greet guests, running tours, operate  studios, handling the merch table, as well as a photographer to capture the wonderful event:

PBS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF TO BE FAMILIAR WITH THIS. SEE THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES HERE AND HTTP://PBS.ORG.AU/POLICY. THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES HANDBOOK ENSURES THAT PBS REMAINS IN SAFE COMPLIANCE WITH THE CODES OF PRACTICE AND OTHER RELEVANT LEGISLATION. IT ALSO POSITIONS PBS VOLUNTEERS, ANNOUNCERS AND STAFF TO OPERATE WITH A SHARED, CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THINGS WORK AT PBS. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY. AND IF YOU’RE INSPIRED, WHY NOT CONSIDER BECOMING A PBS SHAREHOLDER? THE AGM IS HELD IN NOVEMBER
