IN OUR COMMUNITY

Bandmates Victoria
Our friends at Bandmates Victoria are looking for volunteers who LOVE live music. ICYMI, Bandmates is a program that matches Volunteers with people over 18 with disability and or mental health issues, to go out to live music. Often people with disability and or mental health issues are unable to attend live music unless they are with parents or support workers. The program creates solid foundations that facilitate social access, build community connections and enhance wellbeing through accessing popular and independent arts and culture. If you’re interested in being part of this program, find out more info and check out this link.

FINAL WORD
A number of PBS volunteers, listeners and staff were saddened to hear of the passing of Melbourne based songwriter /guitarist /singer Spencer P Jones, an artist who'd appeared on PBS several times in the station's history.  From Paul Elliott playing the Cuban Heels on FM radio in the early 80's, a North To Alaskans live to air from the Prince of Wales,  Beasts of Bourbon playing PBS benefits, Cup Day Kaos', and numerous on-air appearances, Spencer P Jones was loved by so many - especially at PBS.  This picture was taken by Jon Osborne during Drive Live 2013 when Kim Salmon & Spencer played on Kim Walvisch's City Slang. Our staff compiled some audio from sessions he did at PBS, and Phil MacDougall and Kev Lobotomi curated tribute programs.  If you're interested hear it here.  It sure has been a sad time. Vale Spencer P Jones. Vale Aretha. Vale Conway Savage. Vale Lazy Lester and vale to all music makers, who've recently passed, that inspire the people of PBS.

PBS Policies and Procedures
It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the P&P here and http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider becoming a PBS shareholder? The AGM is held in November.

PBS acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we are located
and we pay our respects to them, their culture, and their Elders past and present
