PBS VOLUNTEER NEWS 5, 2019

Last Friday at PBS: Thank you to the weekly teams of volunteers who helped out PBS
Last week we ran our last Radio Festival membership packing shift, and we had a beautiful team of volunteers who helped clear out the backorders, so now everyone who took out a membership for Radio Festival should have it by now! Thanks to everyone involved helping promote, process and pack over 7,000 memberships.  When you pack that many memberships, it makes you think about a lot of things, but particularly the environmental impact. And with recent news about recycling and landfill, it makes us ask how can we get better at reducing our waste?  Sometimes we get lucky, and fantastic people lead the way. One such volunteer is Jane Brownrigg. Helping PBS in so many ways over the years, Jane initiated our compost collection and soft plastics recycling and is taking a break. We are planning on teaming up with a coffee grounds collection company, but are still looking for a team who would like to receive our kitchen scraps for their compost. Could you potentially help?
This is just one way to volunteer for your favourite radio station.
Read on to find out more about upcoming volunteer vacancies at PBS

Compost Collection
We're looking for four people to collect food scraps from our kitchen once a month from PBS, to add to your compost or FOGO bins.  We generate approximately 1 small bucket of food scraps (excluding coffee grounds) a week.  Do you think you could help?  If so, please speak to or email mara@pbsfm.org.au.

PBS needs an Open Day poster that expresses our welcoming music community vibe and clearly expresses the messages of Open Day: community; under-represented music; radio and access.  The art would be used for a Facebook invite, web story, press release and for printing in the A3 size. Would you like to volunteer to do the poster for this year’s Open Day? Send your EOI to mara@pbsfm.org.au with a link to your previous work. PBS Policies and Procedures
It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the P&P at http://pbs.org.au/policy.  The Policies and Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider becoming a PBS shareholder? Check out https://www.pbsfm.org.au/about  The AGM is held in November. For more information email gm@pbsfm.org.au
