Spotlight on Trent Sterling
Trent Sterling - A PBS Volunteer

Trent Sterling is a guy who can juggle priorities. Whilst working a part time job as a customer service officer at a suburban library, he commenced volunteering at PBS in the music library. Soon after that he did the PBS announcer course, made a demo, applied for a program called True Grit which broadcasts every second Tuesday from 2am-6am. Whilst the program focuses on Lo-Fi Rock and Roll, Trent has another passion: playing guitar. He’s in several bands across town including psych-blues trio: The Ivory Elephant & December's Rock A Bye Baby stars 7 piece Afro Funk band The Seven Ups. A committed volunteer to PBS, yes Trent keeps busy, but that’s what can happen when you combine your passion for music & use your skills to help others & reach out into the broader music community!  If you’ve got the time and in the inclination, you too could volunteer at PBS. Rock A Bye Baby is a gig, held at the Fitzroy Town Hall once every two months for parents, carers and children. December heralds the last Rock A Bye Baby for the year, and Trent Sterling's 7 piece Afro Funk inspired band: The Seven Ups are playing. One for the early birds! After 5 years as Breakfast Spread co-host, Crispi Winsor is finishing up on the early shift. To acknowledge his amazing efforts in addition to wrapping up the year, we’re holding a special event called an Inside Broadcast. What is an Inside Broadcast? Well it’s a broadcast outside of the studio, but inside PBS. There’ll be guests, an audience and so much more! We’re looking for general hands to assist – this could include moving seats around, directing and welcoming guests and making coffee and or tea. Would you like to help? Email mara@pbsfm.org.au

Seeking one or more volunteers to transcribe seven interviews which are all around 30 minutes in duration for a radio documentary. We’re seeking a Tuesday morning receptionist to handle the calls, emails and visitors, make studio bookings and undertake a range of administrative tasks. Strong telephone skills and experience using a computer database and the internet is a must.  If you’re a people person, have confidence in office environment, are reliable, and would like to be around PBS, this could be the perfect volunteer role. Drive Live at PBS - Early EOI’s!
Drive Live returns in 2016. Celebrating the culture of live music in Melbourne, PBS broadcasts your new favourite bands, performing live from the Studio 5. Here’s your chance to be part of it.

Volunteer to assist during this broadcast event from Monday 1st of February through to Friday 5th of February. There’s many, but we need to have people with superior people skills, are adaptable, available, reliable and reasonably knowledgeable about local music!

PBS ANNOUNCER COURSE – CLASSES FOR 2016
The PBS announcer course in the introductory course for anyone wanting to become a PBS announcer. As you know PBS is community radio station devoted to playing specialist and under-represented music, so if it’s your dream to be a PBS announcer consider undertaking the course.

PBS is running announcer courses for the following dates in 2016:

Wednesdays in March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 of March with Campbell
Tuesdays in April 5, 12, 19, 26 of April & 3rd of May with Beth
Wednesdays in June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 of June with Campbell
Mondays in July 4, 11, 18, 25 of July & 1st of August with Maddy Mac
Wednesdays in August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31st of August with Jen Crowley
