It’s that time of the year again when we say THANK YOU to the many wonderful volunteers who contributed to PBS in 2018. And at the end of the year, often commitments change for some, so we have to say farewell to excellent volunteers and offer new experiences to those keen. Whilst we’re on our break (Friday 21st of December -2nd January 2019) have a think about if you’d like to volunteer at PBS. What does the future hold for you?

We’re looking for people who love the station, listen to the programs and have an understanding of our purpose of what PBS is all about: nurturing, inspiring and championing Melbourne’s diverse music community.  If you possess good communication skills, the ability to work effectively with others, awareness of the station’s policies and procedures and a will to assist PBS in various ways, volunteering at PBS could be for you!  Check out below to see if there’s something that suits you and follow the instructions on what to do next. Drive Live EOIs
PBS will be holding a week-long live music event 4-8 February 2019.  We are seeking volunteers for Drive Live at PBS to assist with bar, bar runners and the door 4.45pm-7.30pm Monday to Friday.

Bar Hands
We need 2 volunteer bar people preferably with RSA’s to run our bar during Drive Live Monday to Friday. The bar will be selling beers & cans of soft drinks, providing water jugs and selling merchandise.

Bar Runners
Seeking people to assist volunteer bar people during Drive Live Monday to Friday. The bar will be selling beers & cans of soft drinks, providing water jugs and selling merchandise. The runners will be providing support to the bar.

Door People
We need 2 switched on door volunteers to check off names and meet and greet guests.

Transcription Volunteer EOIs
A Ph.D. student currently researching PBS the story of PBS and is due to conduct interviews with people - of PBS past and present. Would you be interested in transcribing interviews? Who's done transcription before? If you have, you know it takes a long time and requires a detailed approach. There are guidelines to comply with.  And sometimes you need to walk away and come back to it. Accuracy is of the utmost importance. If you'd like to volunteer to listen in and transcribe PBS stories, please email mara@pbsfm.org.au to express your interest in transcribing interviews.

Social Media EOIs
Who loves social media? We're seeking savvy social media volunteers available throughout the week to draft, schedule and post likable content on the PBS social media including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.  This is approximately a 3-4 hour shift, one day a week during office hours. If this sounds fun, you feel you could contribute your skills and you could commit 3-6 months to the role, email hr@pbsfm.org.au.

Reception EOIs
If you have experience on a front desk, front of house, face to face customer service role or an admin role, this could be a good volunteer role for you. We’re looking for reliable people with a great phone manner, computer competence and confidence using Word, Excel, Outlook. Do you possess a love and knowledge of PBS? Would you would like to volunteer on the PBS Reception desk? We offer two shifts per day - 10am-2pm or 2pm-6pm between Monday to Friday and we're looking for people who could commit a minimum of 6 months. If you'd like to be involved in 2019, please send your EOI to mara@pbsfm.org.au for a PD.

Announcer Course 2019
As you know, PBS106.7FM is a community radio station devoted to playing specialist and under-represented music, so if it’s your dream to be an announcer, consider undertaking the 5-week announcer introductory announcer course. 2019 dates, rates, more info and the application can be found here.

Policies and Procedures
It is important for all volunteers and staff to be familiar with this. See the P&P at http://pbs.org.au/policy. The Policies and Procedures Handbook ensures that PBS remains in safe compliance with the Codes of Practice and other relevant legislation. It also positions PBS volunteers, announcers and staff to operate with a shared, clear understanding of how things work at PBS. Please read it carefully. And if you’re inspired, why not consider becoming a PBS shareholder? The AGM is held in November.
